ChoiceOne Bank Welcomes Robert Bengel, Janis Vanderputte, Patrick Auckland

ChoiceOne Financial Services, Inc., and ChoiceOne Bank (NASDAQ: COFS) (“ChoiceOne”) welcomed Robert (“Rob”) Bengel, Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer; Janis Vanderputte, Vice President, Risk Project Manager; and Patrick Auckland, Mortgage Loan Officer, to the ChoiceOne team.

Robert Bengel, Vice President Commercial Loan Officer – West Market

Rob Bengel joins ChoiceOne with 13 years of experience in commercial banking, with the last nine years in a lending role. Most recently, Bengel was a Relationship Manager in Grand Rapids with a regional community bank. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University, East Lansing.

Active in his community, Bengel served on the West Michigan Spartans Board and continues to volunteer with the Michigan State Alumni organization that fundraises in the community for academic and athletic scholarships. He is also a member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, the Association for Corporate Growth Western Michigan and volunteers with New City Neighbors and Junior Achievement. Bengel is a graduate of the Grand Rapids Emerging Leaders, a Grand Rapids Chamber program.

 

Janis Vanderputte, Vice President Risk Project Manager

Janis Vanderputte joins ChoiceOne with a 20-year career in financial services holding positions at several organizations as Financial Advisor, Licensed Financial Specialist and Financial Institution Examiner. Her most recent position was with a community bank as Senior Vice President Compliance Officer / Information Security Officer / Audit / Exam Manager.

Vanderputte holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance both from Grand Valley State University, Allendale. She has volunteered as an auditor for her local Fraternal Order of Eagles and as a Girl Scout Troop leader in her community. Vanderputte was named to the ICBA's Independent Banker "40 under 40 Emerging Leaders" in 2023.

 

Patrick Auckland, Mortgage Loan Officer – Central Market

Patrick Auckland joins ChoiceOne with more than three decades of mortgage lending experience, having assisted more than 3,000 homeowners in achieving their homeownership goals. He began his career as a

Loan Officer in 1993 and has since built a diverse background in financial services. Over the years, he has owned and operated his own mortgage company, served as a Financial Planner, and earned his Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP) designation through the FINRA Institute. For the past nine years, he has focused on serving clients as a Mortgage Loan Officer.

Auckland studied at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti and Oakland University in Rochester. He serves customers from ChoiceOne’s Fenton Branch, located at 175 North Leroy Street.
