ChoiceOne Bank Local Teen Places 3rd in National Savings Video Contest

ChoiceOne Bank is pleased to announce West Ottawa High School’s Sarah Moraw, representing ChoiceOne Bank, won 3rd place in the American Bankers Association (ABA) Foundation’s Lights, Camera, Save! national video contest. The announcement was made today in a video broadcast via the ABA’s Instagram account.

ChoiceOne Bank was one of 89 bank participants who hosted local levels of the competition and selected a winner to represent their bank and compete on the national level. Sarah Moraw’s video, “Rappin’ Your Way to Retirement” features Sarah rapping about saving for retirement with an IRA.

“We are thrilled for Sarah and are excited to be a part of this major accomplishment,” said ChoiceOne Bank CEO Kelly J. Potes “I hope students nationwide will check out Sarah’s video as it delivers important financial lessons in a format that is equal parts educational and entertaining. This was an incredible opportunity for teens to engage and educate each other on the value of saving money and creating healthy money habits.”

As the 3rd-place winner, Sarah will receive a cash prize of $1,000 to fund her savings goal. In addition, an educator from Sarah’s school will be awarded a scholarship to Jump$tart’s National Educator Conference this fall in Atlanta.

Lights, Camera, Save!, now in its 12th year, is a national contest that encourages teens ages 13-18 to communicate the value of sound money management in a 30-second or less video. This free competition is one of ABA Foundation’s most popular financial education initiatives. For more on the contest, visit www.LightsCameraSave.com.

Local and national cash prizes were awarded in the Lights, Camera, Save! contest. ChoiceOne Bank had three local cash prize winners, sending Sarah as the first-place winner to the National ABA Competition. In total, Sarah won $1,350 in the local and national competition. Congratulations Sarah!

  •  Third Place – $1,000
