Athlete of the Week - November 2025

Athlete of the Week is an initiative coordinated by Athletic Directors at School Districts within our central market. The program recognizes student-athletes who have exhibited exceptional performance, leadership, and sportsmanship during the week. The commitment and positive approach demonstrated by the selected students provide a model for their peers. Weekly, representatives from Hartland, Holly, Lake Fenton, Linden, and Fenton gather to vote on the top athlete in each sport. ChoiceOne Bank is honored to sponsor this enduring tradition, which has highlighted the achievements and dedication of student-athletes for more than thirty years.

Claire Gostlin, Hartland - Girls Swimming and Diving

  • Girls swim season is soon coming to a close, and Claire had a very impressive season. As a freshman she knocked out many of her goals. Claire broke a 10+ year old 200 IM pool record with a time of 2:10.07, she also broke the 10+ year old 200 IM varsity record with a time of 2:08.37. Claire achieved MHSAA D1 state cuts in 5 individual events (200 IM, 200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Breast). Claire was KLAA all-conference in 2 individual events at the conference championship meet; 200 IM 2nd overall with a time of 2:08.37 and 3rd overall in the 100 Fly with a time of :59.00.

Samantha Craine, Linden - Volleyball

  • Sam, senior outside, went 11-11 hitting with 6 kills (0.545 hitting efficiency) and also went 11-11 serving with 4 aces in our match against Owosso. She had 5 kills and 2 aces in our match against Lake Fenton. She also went 12-12 passing on the week. Sam has been a great asset to our team. She is one of the smallest outside hitters but definitely plays bigger than her size!

Riley Hummel, Holly - Girls Swimming and Diving

  • Riley continues to have a great season. Coming off winning the league championship last weekend in diving, Riley traveled to Fenton on Thursday to compete in the MHSAA Regional. Riley competed angainst other divers from the area trying to earn a spot in next weekend’s MHSAA State Finals at Eastern Michigan University. Riley not only competed, she won the regional with a score of 377.45 for her 11 dives. Way to go Riley and good luck this upcoming weekend at States.

Eleni Kosmanopoulos, Lake Fenton - Volleyball

  • Eleni has performed very well this past week in our postseason run on Tuesday she accumulated nine kills hitting a .350, three digs and one ace. On Thursday she dominated with 20 kills hitting a .298, 2 digs and an ace. She has been a great asset in helping our team continue in this season.

Vinnie Sabala, Hartland - Hockey

  • Vinnie had a shutout (6th overall) in our season opening game vs Canton on Friday, Nov 7th. He stopped 27 shots for the game.

November 17

Carson Perkins, Hartland - Hockey

  • Scored two goals in tournament semi final on Friday 11/28 vs Forest Hills Central, including game winner. Had another goal in the tournament final on Saturday 11/29 vs Clarkston to help lead the team to the tournament championship.

Maddie Moore, Hartland - Girls Ski

  • Maddie joined the team this year as our only senior after all of our upperclassmen graduated last year. Despite being new to the team, she immediately jumped into a leadership role guiding and mentoring our younger athletes. I am honored to be Maddie’s coach and am excited to see her develop her skills on and off the hill throughout the year.

William Pushman, Hartland - Boys Ski

  • Will is our best returning skier, but what has impressed me most about him so far this year is his leadership acumen. He has a commanding presence that inspires other athletes on the team to do their best. He was a clear choice to be a team captain this year, despite being a sophomore. I am proud to see how far Will has come since last year and am excited to see what he achieves this season.
