Athlete of the Week is an initiative coordinated by Athletic Directors at School Districts within our central market. The program recognizes student-athletes who have exhibited exceptional performance, leadership, and sportsmanship during the week. The commitment and positive approach demonstrated by the selected students provide a model for their peers. Weekly, representatives from Hartland, Holly, Lake Fenton, Linden, and Fenton gather to vote on the top athlete in each sport. ChoiceOne Bank is honored to sponsor this enduring tradition, which has highlighted the achievements and dedication of student-athletes for more than thirty years.

 

May 4
 

Eli Belcher, Lake Fenton - Boys Golf

• Eli finished tied for 3rd at the Charger Invitational on Monday, shooting 73 to lead the team. He then followed up that performance by leading the team with a 38 against Kearsley at Fenton Farms on Thursday. 

Avery Heil, Lake Fenton - Softball

• Avery Heil is Lake Fenton Softball candidate for Athlete of the Week after an incredible performance at the plate this week. Avery went 7-for-8, batting an outstanding .875 average. Her huge week included 2 singles, 4 doubles, and 1 home run — her 6th home run of the season. She also drove in 10 RBIs and scored 9 runs, continuing to be a major spark for the offense and a key leader for the team.

Mallory Frantti, Hartland - Girls Soccer

• The Freshmen, Mallory Frantti, had a strong week for the Eagles. On Monday she had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Okemos. On Thursday, in the first round of the KLAA tournament, she had two goals and an assist against 7th seeded Belleville. She is the 2nd leading scorer on the team.

Addi Smith, Fenton - Girls Tennis

• During our Quad meet at Durand on Saturday May 9th Addi won 2 out of her 3 matches in a dominating fashion. She took second place in her flight and received a very cool medal. Addi won her first match 6-4, 6-0 Vs Bay City All Saints, then her second match she battled hard vs Lansing Christian but lost in a 2 hour plus match 3-6, 6-4, 5-10. Then for her 3rd match Addi again in a dominating form she beat Durand 6-2, 6-0... It was a very long day for all athletes we had 1 30 min thunder delay. Then play resumed for Addies 3rd match. Addi usually plays 4 singles but today she played up a flight at 3 singles which sometimes is asking a lot from your athlete. Addi is a Senior and very competitive during her matches win or lose she represents our Fenton Tigers family.

Reese Messenger, Hartland - Girls Track and Field

• Reese has had a great start to her track career. This past week Reese, as a freshmen, won the 100M at the KLAA championships with a time of 12.71 (into 3.0 headwind). She followed that up with a 3rd place finish in the 200M in 26.30 (a personal best). She also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay and helped the team secure a 2nd place overall finish in the meet. This was their highest finish in 14 years.

Nate Anderer, Hartland - Boys Lacrosse

• Nate is having another stellar season in goal for the Eagles. This week he had two of his strongest performances of the season as he helped the team pick up wins against 2 highly ranked opponents. On Wednesday, he stood tall against rival Brighton, shutting out the Bulldogs in the first half on the way to a 12-5 win as the team secured the division title. On Saturday, he continued turning away the opposing teams best efforts as he was an integral part of a 15-7 win over Forest Hills Eastern.

Landan Gregory, Lake Fenton - Baseball

• Landan went 6-13 in 4 games with 5 RBI’s and a game winning double in the bottom of the 7th inning to beat Owosso 8-7. He also pitched 8.0 innings and had 4 strikeouts.

Dylan Dreasky, Linden - Boys Track and Field

• Dylan had a breakout race finishing 2nd in 100 dash at the league championships in 11.17. He was also an important part of 2 league champion relays in the 4x100 and 4x200! 

Teagan Visgar, Holly - Girls Lacrosse

• Teagan is a first-year captain on our RedHawks team who has quickly proven herself to be a natural leader and a kind, supportive teammate. She consistently pushes herself to improve, and her dedication never goes unnoticed. Last week, Teagan had an outstanding performance in all three of our games last week. Teagan scored 4 goals in our game against midland-Dow, 3 goals against Fenton-linden, and 3 goals against ovid Elsie, with a total of 10 goals for the week. Her leadership and determination continue to make a strong impact on our team both on and off the field.

Kayla Kinney, Fenton - Girls Lacrosse

• Kayla has been a 2 year starting goalie on Varsity. She is an AP student athlete and is part of the band team at school. She fires up her teammates before games. Kayla' has reached over 150 career saves (170 saves to be exact) and surpassed her last year's saves. 2025 saves: 83. 2026 saves: 87. Save percentage 55%. Also, she has 1 goal with a 100% shooting percentage.

Piper Johnson, Holly - Girls Soccer

• Piper Johnson is a centerback that has stepped up all season to be a crucial player. Being a captain she leads our back line and has been consistent on shutting down big league players. She aided us in our 8-0 win against Corunna for our 10th shutout of the season. Along with shutting down a top forward in state at almont for 2-2 tie. (one being a penalty kick). 

Jase Sensor, Hartland - Boys Golf

• Sophomore Jase Sensor had his best week of the season carding a 77 at the challenging Plum Hollow CC on Monday to help the Eagles to a team tournament victory and earning a 12th place individual finish in the 113 player field. Jase also carded a day two 79 at FSU's Katke GC in one of the toughest fields in the state - finishing 25th individually on the day. Well done Jase - keep up the great work!

Julia Bambach, Holly - Girls Track and Field

• On Friday night, Julia not only became regional champion and state qualifier but she also set a new school record for the 3200m running a time of 10:51.43

Brilant Suknaj, Lake Fenton - Boys Track and Field

• Alyssa delivered an absolutely electric week for the Bronchos — dominating in the circle and at the plate. On the mound, she stacked 2 wins, posting a sharp 2.17 ERA and 0.931 WHIP for the week. Her signature moment came in Game 1 vs. hard-hitting Lake Fenton, where she was nothing short of dominant. In a complete‑-game shutout, Alyssa fired a 0.00 ERA, 0.714 WHIP, allowed just 3 hits, struck out 4, and stranded 5 runners to slam the door on one of the area’s toughest lineups. And she didn’t stop there. At the plate, Alyssa was the Bronchos’ engine — going 8-for-14 (.571), driving in 9 runs, and crossing the plate 4 times. Every time Holly needed a spark, she delivered it. A true two-way force. A statement week. A Broncho leading the charge.

Sofia Vitarelli, Fenton- Girls Tennis

• Sofia usually plays 2 doubles for us. On May 11 Monday vs Lake Fenton/Linden Chloe along with her partner Bella Zub dominated there match 6-0,6-0.. Then at Regionals on May 13th Wednesday we asked Sofia to play at 4 singles which is asking a whole lot when you are used to playing doubles all season. At Regionals Sofia son her first match 6-2,6-3. That was well done for her. Sofia is very coachable and is really a "Team" player. She is a sophomore and we are looking forwards to having Sofia being part of the Fenton Tennis Team the next 2 years . She truly represents #weareFenton

Piper Grant, Holly - Softball

• Piper Grant had a great week for the Bronchos. Offensively Piper collected 10 hits in 20 at bats with a double and an in the park Homerun for a .500 average on the week and a .583 OBP. Piper account for 14 runs for the Bronchos, scoring 8 times and driving in 6 runs. Piper also carried the Bronchos on the mound, pitching 26.2 Innings, with 28 strikeouts allowing only 15 earned runs, for an ERA of 3.93 allowing a .243 Batting Average Against. Piper's best game of the week was verse Fenton where she collected a 6-5 win, allowing only 3 hits and 5 unearned runs. 

Remy Dubreuil, Holly - Baseball

• Remy had a great week for us, helped us give Fenton there only league loss. He went 7-12 (.583 average) w/ a Double, (4) Runs, (2) RBI, HBP, BB, & 3 Stolen bases all from the leadoff spot. Remy had a hit in all 4 games, extending his hitting streak to 9 games.

Kiera Workman, Fenton - Girls Tennis

• Keira won her first match at the Metro league championship on Tuesday May 19th vs Corunna. It was a long one approx 2 hrs plus. Her score was 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. In her second match vs Swartz Creek she didn't win but competed very hard and never gave up. Keira is a Senior and an awesome representative of Fenton HS and what it means to be a student/athlete.

Wyatt Johnson, Hartland - Boys Golf

• Wyatt Johnson had a career week last week notching his first high school tournament victory with a 73 at Midland Country Club, helping the Eagles to a team title as well. Wyatt also shot 36 at Dunham Hills GC, as the Eagles battled the Brighton Bulldogs falling by just a single stroke. Wyatt has been a very solid 4-man for Hartland this season, and enjoyed one of the best weeks of his high school career last week. Congratulations Wyatt!

Connor Sage, Holly - Baseball

• Connor started and went 6 innings vs Pinckney, allowing 7H, 2ER, 6K’s, picked up the win in a 4-2 Win for the Bronchos, Connor also pitched a scoreless inning vs Clarkston Everest Collegiate. Connor also went 2-5 (.400avg) w/ 3 R, 2 BB, Sac Fly, 2 RBI, SB as the Bronchos went 4-0 for the week

Elliana Hufton, Lake Fenton - Girls Track and Field

• Elliana ran a time of 2:16.37 to place 6th at the MHSAA D2 Track & Field State Finals to earn All-State honors for the second time of her career.

Evan Johnson, Lake Fenton - Boys Golf

• Evan qualified for the State Finals this upcoming week by shooting a 75 at Flint Golf Club at the state regionals. Evan had a playoff for the final spot against one other player, and won the playoff on the first hole by making a birdie on the first hole.
