Meet John Scott - Mr. Scott joined ChoiceOne Bank in February 2017. He has over 31 years of experience in leading technology initiatives with Michigan financial institutions. His career started at a credit union in Saginaw as the Information Systems Manager before advancing to a credit union in Flint as the Senior Vice-President, Information Technology.

Before working in the technology field for financial institutions, John served five years active duty in the Army working and training in technology. He obtained his associate’s degree from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, CO in 1991 while serving in the military. After completing his active-duty service in 1989, John remained in the Michigan Army National Guard for 10 years before transferring to the Michigan Air National Guard where he retired in 2010, after 22 years of service. While serving, he deployed twice to the Middle East, once with the Army and once with the Air Force and has received the Air Force Accommodation Medel, Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and several other awards and decorations. John earned his bachelor’s degree (Cum Laude) from Spring Arbor University in 2004.

Active in his community, John is a member of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint serving on the Fenton Fund Committee. He has also regularly volunteered as a cook at Center for Hope and Carriage Town Ministries in downtown Flint over the past 20 years.
