Carmen Villahermosa de Cox Joins Habitat for Humanity’s Board

ChoiceOne Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmen Villahermosa de Cox to the Board of Directors for Kent County Habitat for Humanity. ChoiceOne Bank will also continue to pledge its commitment to Habitat for Humanity with an annual pledge of $15,000.00 in 2018 and 2019 for a total of $30,000.

 

“As the local community bank, we believe healthy communities start with healthy families, and secure housing is a basic need for everyone,” said ChoiceOne Bank President and CEO Kelly Potes. “We are pleased to continue to support Habitat for Humanity, and especially excited to have Carmen join their Board. Carmen’s background in finance and business development will offer a unique perspective to the Board.”

 

The Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors currently has 21 members including Villahermosa de Cox. The Board meets officially six times a year with Habitat related events in between meetings. When looking for Board members, the Habitat for Humanity team looks for individuals who have a passion for the community, who understand the challenges members of the community face, and who can bring a fresh perspective to the Board.

 

“We are honored to have Carmen join our talented and passionate team of Board members,” said Habitat Kent Executive Director BriAnne McKee. “Her enthusiasm and expertise in residential lending will be invaluable to Habitat Kent as we seek innovative solutions to provide more affordable homeownership opportunities in our community.”

 

Villahermosa de Cox is responsible business development and community outreach at ChoiceOne Bank. She joined ChoiceOne last year with over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, with 17 of those years serving Grand Rapids communities. She is bi-lingual which helps ChoiceOne to serve their Hispanic customers with someone they can trust for all their ongoing financial needs. Villahermosa de Cox is actively involved with the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Center of West Michigan, President of the Forest Hills Business Association, and Board of Director for March of Dimes. She and her husband David Cox, reside in Caledonia, Mich.
